How to Use This Simulator

Stockade's paper trading simulator gives you a $100,000 virtual account, a live-ticking candlestick chart, and a full order ticket — no signup and no real money at risk. Your balance and trade history are saved in your browser, so you can pick up where you left off.

Reading the interface

The chart fills the centre of the screen. The top bar holds the symbol selector — 29 simulated tickers grouped into stocks, crypto, forex and futures — along with timeframe buttons and toggles for the EMA 9, EMA 20 and EMA 50 overlays. A volume histogram runs along the bottom of the chart. The right-hand panel is your account: current balance, any open position with its unrealised P&L, and a running log of every fill. On narrow screens those panels collapse into the Chart, Order and Trades tabs.

Placing an order

Enter a quantity, then choose an order type. A market order fills immediately at the last traded price. A limit order rests until the market reaches your price — a buy placed below the market fills when price falls to it, a sell placed above the market fills when price rises to it — and resting orders appear under Working Orders, where you can cancel them. (Market orders vs. limit orders goes deeper on when to use each.) A limit placed on the wrong side of the market is already marketable, so it fills straight away at the better prevailing price. The optional stop-loss and take-profit fields work as an OCO bracket — whichever level price reaches first closes the position and clears the other. Buy opens a long, Sell opens a short, and Flatten closes everything at the current price. Once the page has focus you can trade from the keyboard: B to buy, S to sell, F to flatten.

What this simulator does not model

Fills here are simpler than a live exchange, and it is worth knowing exactly how before you read too much into a result:

  • No slippage. Every order fills at the exact price shown, with no spread and no commission. In a real market a fast move or a thin book routinely fills you worse than the price you clicked.
  • No partial fills. Orders fill in full and instantly, whatever the size. A real venue can fill a large order in pieces at several prices, or leave part of it unfilled.
  • No queue position. A resting limit order fills the moment price reaches its level, as if it were first in line. On a real book you sit behind everyone who posted at that price ahead of you, and price can touch your level without filling you at all.
  • Resting orders don't reserve buying power. Balance is only checked when a resting order actually fills, so an order can be cancelled at that moment for insufficient funds rather than being blocked when you place it.
  • Prices are generated, not real. All 29 tickers are fictional and their price movement is fake — synthetic data generated in your browser, never pulled from a live feed. No symbol represents a real security.

The upshot: treat the results as practice for process — entries, exits, sizing, and discipline — rather than as a forecast of what the same strategy would earn with real money.

Tips for getting started

  • Risk a fixed 1–2% of your account per trade rather than sizing by gut feel.
  • Set a stop loss before you enter, not after the trade has moved against you.
  • Switch to replay mode to step through candles at your own pace — the spacebar advances one bar.
  • Stick with one symbol for a stretch; repeated exposure teaches more than jumping between all 29.
  • Review your results on the Analytics dashboard — win rate and profit factor say more than one lucky trade.
